Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has met celebrated sand artist Padma Shri Sudarsan Pattnaik at the India Maritime Week 2025 celebrations held at the NESCO Grounds in Mumbai.
During the event, PM Modi was drawn to Pattnaik’s stunning sand art piece, “Odisha to Indonesia: Voyage of Heritage,” which beautifully depicted India’s ancient maritime legacy through the “Bali Yatra” theme.
The Prime Minister was visibly impressed by Pattnaik’s creativity and his contribution to promoting India’s rich cultural heritage. Modi patted Pattnaik on the back, appreciating his marvellous piece.
The India Maritime Week saw the Prime Minister inaugurating several key initiatives for the shipping and shipbuilding sectors. PM Modi emphasised the Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047, a roadmap aimed at establishing India as a global maritime powerhouse.
The large installation, measuring 30 feet in length and 10 feet in width, was created at the Odisha Pavilion during the event to celebrate the enduring bond between oceans and civilization.
“It was a distinct honour to represent my State and the Commerce & Transport Department at this prestigious event. Sand art is a timeless medium that connects our glorious past with the aspirations of a resurgent maritime India,” said Sudarshan Pattanaik.
