Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said his government is making all efforts to ensure Odisha is counted among the strongest, prosperous and fastest-growing states of the country by 2036, when the eastern state will be celebrating its 100th foundation day.
Addressing a gathering at the Odisha Parba event in Delhi, PM Modi on Sunday said that Odisha, which was once considered as a backward state, has huge potential in sectors like tourism, port-based industries, seafood export, steel, energy etc.
According to Modi, the Dhamra Port, Gopalpur Port, Astaranga Port, Palur Port and Subarnarekha Port will be developed. The Centre will encourage export businesses from these ports. The steel and mining sectors will also be developed in Odisha, Modi added.
He said that in 2036, Odisha will complete 100 years of its formation. “There was a time when eastern India was considered backward. But I considered eastern India to be the engine of development. He observed that Odisha should be a brand in seafood as there is plenty of potential for development in the sector. My government is committed to enhance the ease of doing business in Odisha,” Modi said.
“This year, 30% more budget allocation has been made for Odisha than last year,” the Prime Minister Modi said, adding, “In the first 100 days of the formation of the new government, investments worth Rs 45,000 crore have been approved.”
On this occasion, Modi paid tribute to Swabhaba Kabi Gangadhara Meher on his birth centenary. He also remembered Bhakta Dasia Bauri, Bhakta Salabega and Atibadi Jagannath Das. “Odisha has been the land of saints and scholars,” the Prime Minister said.
Prime Minister Modi said that in the first 100 days of the formation of the new government, 45 thousand crores of investments have been approved.
Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Ashwin Vaishnaw also attended the programme.
