Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Bhubaneswar on June 20 to participate in a grand public event commemorating the first anniversary of the BJP government in Odisha and the 11th anniversary of the BJP-led government at the Centre. The event is scheduled to take place at Janata Maidan, tentatively around 3 p.m., and is expected to be one of the largest public gatherings in the state in recent times.
Announcing the event on Wednesday, BJP state president Manmohan Samal said that Prime Minister Modi will be given a grand welcome upon his arrival at the Bhubaneswar Airport, and that the Janata Maidan celebration will serve as a major public rally showcasing the achievements of both the state and central governments. Details regarding other high-profile attendees are expected to be revealed soon, he added.
The BJP government in Odisha, led by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, will complete one year in office on June 12. Reflecting on the journey so far, CM Majhi addressed the media on Tuesday, highlighting key accomplishments since his administration assumed charge. He noted that the new government had begun acting on its promises from the very day it was sworn in, holding its first cabinet meeting on the evening of June 12, 2024.
Majhi emphasized that the government’s core priorities over the past year have been delivering effective governance and combating corruption, which he described as major milestones achieved within the short span of twelve months. He also extended his congratulations to Prime Minister Modi, whose leadership, he said, has brought historic transformation at the national level.
“The success of the Modi government, first sworn in on May 26, 2014, will be etched in golden letters in the country’s history,” Majhi remarked. “Instead of the corrupt, inefficient, and pessimistic environment that once prevailed, a new light of hope emerged. Modi ji has fulfilled the people’s aspirations.”
The upcoming June 20 event is expected to serve as both a celebration of political milestones and a platform to project the BJP’s long-term vision for Odisha and the nation.
