Khordha: Punjab National Bank (PNB) today took possession of Hotel Suryamukhi here in the presence of a magistrate and police on account of loan default by its proprietor.
Officials of Punjab National Bank, Bhubaneswar Circle today in the presence of Assistant Collector Sarat Chandra Beura sealed Hotel Suryamukhi for loan default to the tune of Rs 5.5 crore availed by its proprietor Rashmi Ranjan Mohapatra from the bank’s Jatni Argul branch.
Mohapatra is the Khordha District President of the BJP.
The hotel has 14 rooms. A bar and restaurant and BJP office were functioning on the hotel’s premises.
“We have taken possession of the hotel since there is a loan default to the tune of around Rs 5.5 crore,” said a senior official of the PNB.
Senior officials of PNB, Khordha Town police station IIC Tariq Ahmed, other senior police officials and one platoon of policemen were present during the takeover by the bank.
