Poacher Arrested In Mayurbhanj; 25 Kg Sambar Meat, Weapons Seized

Bhubaneswar: A special team of the Forest department on Saturday arrested a poacher and seized 25 kg sambar meat from his possession in Kaptipada area under Baripada forest division in Mayurbhanj district.

The Forest department team also seized one country made gun and traditional weapons from his possession. The accused has been identified as Chaitanya Murmu.

According to reports, acting on a tip-off a 15 member team was formed  which conducted a raid at the house of Chaitanya Murmu (36) Katuria Bindhani Sahi and seized 25 kg sambar meat, a country made gun, two bows, and four arrows. Murmu was allegedly planning to sell the sambar meat.

Forest department officials have registered a case in this matter and forwarded Murmu to court following his arrest.
