Bhubaneswar: The forest department has arrested a poacher in possession of three sambar deer horns from the famous Similipal National Park in Mayurbhanj district.
According to Deputy Director of STR North Saikiran DN, the forest department received information from a reliable source that a man from Old Khadia Sahi, near Asankudar under the Karanjia forest range, had hunted wild animals and kept their horns, skin, teeth, and other organs.
The forest department team raided the house of Champai Hembram, a resident of Old Khadia Sahi, and seized three sambar horns and boar teeth from him. They arrested Champai and registered a case.
The forest department and the police are investigating the incident to find out others involved. The accused, Champai, will be produced in court tomorrow.
