Bhubaneswar: A survey team from Andhra Pradesh faced strong protest in Sembi village of disputed Kotia region in Koraput district, sparking a heated argument with local police. The team, allegedly there for ration and Aadhaar card e-survey, was warned by Odisha police and eventually left.
The incident follows Andhra’s “Operation Kotia” launched after Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singhdeo’s visit to the disputed area. Andhra supporters claimed Sembi village as part of their territory, challenging Odisha’s claim.
Singhdeo had recently laid the foundation for an electricity substation in Sembi. Andhra’s move is seen as an attempt to capture Kotia, with Pawan Kalyan’s Jansevak Dal meeting village heads and claiming the disputed village.
