Malkangiri: An Assistant Sub Inspector of Police in the district has been arrested with 420 kg ganja late night on Saturday. The accused, Jayadash Khara is posted as an ASI at Kartanpali outpost under Mathili police.
On Saturday night, Khara was spotted at Malkangiri while he was searching for a vehicle for transport. The local police had received a tip-off about ganja smuggling from the area. Two senior police officials led the operation and nabbed ASI Khara.
Apart from the contraband, Rs 10,000 in cash, a laptop, two motorcycles and a car were seized during the operation. Three others belonging to Kalimela region have also been arrested in this case of ganja smuggling.
