Police Busts Maoist Camp After Exchange Of Fire In Kandhamal

Bhubaneswar: A Maoist camp was busted after an exchange of fire between security forces and Naxals near Kolampara village under Gochhada police limits in Kandhamal district on April 5, informed police on Wednesday.

Reportedly, a joint team of SOG and DVF Kandhamal had launched an anti-naxalite operation on April 4 based on reliable input of Maoists presence in the area.

While the team was combing the area on the morning of April 5, Maoists did heavy firing from an advantageous position. The police party immediately took cover and asked Maoists to surrender themselves.

In order to save themselves, the police party fired in a controlled manner in self-defence. Taking the benefit of dense jungle and difficult terrain Naxals escaped from the spot.

Further search operation is continuing. Police recovered the following incriminating articles from the spot.
