Koraput: In a joint effort, police, Childline officials, and the district administration’s Child Protection Officer intervened to prevent two child marriages in Koraput district on Friday.
The incidents occurred in Mali Marla and Badamarla villages under the Khudi gram panchayat in Semiliguda block, within the jurisdiction of Potangi police limits. Two minor girls were rescued during the operation.
According to Child Protection Officer Rajeshree Das, the wedding in Mali Marla was scheduled to take place on Friday, while the one in Badamarla was set for Saturday.
The timely intervention by the authorities ensured that the ceremonies were halted, safeguarding the minors from being forced into marriage.
