Bhubaneswar: The Mahila Police today arrested police constable Rajnikant Gomango on charges of sexually abusing a minor girl.
According to the complaint, Gomango was sexually abusing the minor girl for around four years. Gomango who had allegedly trapped the minor girl since she was of 13 years of age had threatened to make viral videos of her sexual abuse on social media platforms.
The constable had allegedly demanded Rs 50,000 from the victim to delete the videos of her sexual exploitation. He reportedly forced her to maintain physical relations with her.
Unable to bear the torture, the victim lastly garnered the courage to inform Childline.
The victim registered a complaint against Gomango at the Mahila Police Station with the help of Childline on Tuesday.
On the basis of the complaint, Gomango was arrested by Mahila Police while he was on duty. Police have seized electronic devices from Gomango’s residence.
Mahila Police have recorded the victim’s statement under section 161 CrPC.
Besides, the victim has also recorded her statement under section 165 CrPC before a magistrate.
The accused has been forwarded to court.
