Jeypore: A police constable died after being hit by an unknown vehicle during morning walk at Borigumma in Koraput district on Thursday morning.
The accident took place near Dulaguda on the Borigumma-Koraput State Highway No. 48 while constable Pitambar Pujari was on a morning walk.
Pujari, a resident of Girla village in Kotapad block, had been serving as a constable at Borigumma police station. He was just six months away from retirement. The Borigumma Police have identified the vehicle involved in the accident, but the driver remains at large.
Pujari’s family members have arrived at the Borigumma health centre after receiving the information.
The body of the deceased constable has been taken to the Borigumma health centre. Police launched an investigation into the incident.
