**Rourkela:** A police constable was shot at by a youth following an argument between him and some people inside a beer bar at Khamaripada Square in Sundergarh district here on Wednesday late night.
The accused youth was identified as Krishna Gupta and the injured constable was identified as Soumendra Sethi, working as a special branch constable.
Reportedly, Gupta in a drunken state get in to an argument with some youths in the beer parlour at around 11 pm. Following this, constable Sethi tried to pacify the situation when the accused opened four rounds of fire out of which, one hit the constable. The accused fled the spot after the incident.
Sethi survived bullet injuries in his neck. He was rushed to Ispat General Hospital (IGH) in Rourkela and is undergoing treatment in the surgical ward. The doctors have stated that he is out of danger now.
The Town police along with the SP rushed to the spot to take a stock of the incident. It has been revealed that Gupta had previous criminal records. Meanwhile, Gupta’s three brothers have been detained by the police for interrogation.
The police have started a manhunt to nab the accused.
