Bhubaneswar: Padua police earned kudos for reuniting estranged lovebirds and solemnising their marriage through effective counselling.
The incident took place in Koraput district.
According to sources, Rabindra and Manjula were in love for a long time. Both ran away from their houses on June 3 to get married against their parents’ wishes. However, three days after the elopement, Rabindra left Manjula. A desperate Manjula rang Rabindra several times, but Rabindra neither picked up his ladylove’s calls nor visited her.
Finding no other go, Manjula knocked the door of Padua police to get justice. She had filed a complaint in this connection.
Acting on the complaint filed by Manjula, police held a meeting with the families of Manjula and Rabindra and managed to convince both the parties for marriage.
Police took Rabindra to the police station where Manjula tied the nuptial knot with Rabindra in the presence of police officials and family members of both sides.
Rabindra and Manjula exchanged garlands along with all the procedures to lead a happy conjugal life. The couple took the blessing of their family members and senior police officers for a blissful marital life.
