Jajpur: Police today exhumed the body of a man and sent it for post-mortem four days after his death at Purunapani under Sukinda police limits in Jajpur district.
In presence of local tehsildar, police seized the body with due procedure after family members alleged that he was murdered.
Prahlad Naik of Purunapani met with an accident and died during treatment Sukinda Community Health Centre (CHC) was killed in an accident on December 7. But, his family members buried the body and performed last rites without informing the police.

Sukinda Tehsildar and executive magistrate Damayanti Sahoo said “Prahalad died unnaturally on Thursday. His body was taken to Sukinda hospital. But his family members took it back for last rites without following any procedure. Later, the family members lodged a complaint that an unidentified vehicle caused the accident resulting in his death. Today, we exhumed the body and sent it for post-mortem”.
