Koraput: A student of Shai College of Science in Odisha’s Koraput district has filed a complaint against the college principal for allegedly sexually harassing her and other female students of the institution.
Acting on the complaint, the Jeypore Town police have registered a case under several Sections of the CrPC against the principal and also started an investigation into the matter.
According to the complaint lodged by the students, the principal tried to forcibly have a physical relationship with the second-year student. However, the student managed to escape from the clutches of the principal by throwing her bag at him and reached the Jeypore Town police station to lodge her complaint.
For a long time, there have been allegations of mental and physical abuse against girls in Shai Science College. Many complaints were lodged against the college principal in this regard but no action was taken.
Incidentally, the accused principal had gone absconding soon after the student complained. However, he returned to the college when a police team raided the college premises for him.
