Bhubaneswar: Police have formed four special teams to investigate the armed robbery in the office of Manappuram Gold Loan at Budharaja Main Road in Sambalpur district, on Friday.
According to sources, armed robbers broke into the office and assaulted the employees, leaving them injured. The robbers reportedly decamped with gold jewellery weighing 30 kilograms and cash after holding the employees and customers hostage at gunpoint. While 10 robbers with firearms and sharp-edged weapons looted the office, some of them reportedly stood guard outside the building.
Meanwhile, police are conducting raids at various locations to apprehend the culprits apart from forming special teams for the same reason. The investigation is also being extended to neighbouring districts. The police are on high alert and are urging anyone with information about the robbery to come forward.
