Bhubaneswar: The New Year is expected to witness lakhs of devotees and tourists flocking to Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri to seek the blessings of Lord Jagannath.

In anticipation of the massive crowd, the district police have initiated elaborate preparations. The temple’s interior and exterior, as well as various tourist spots, are being closely monitored.

To ensure crowd control and traffic management, 60 platoons of force, accompanied by 90 officers, will be deployed in the town. Pre-arrangement discussions have been held with police officials. Additionally, meetings have taken place between the district police and hoteliers, emphasizing safe accommodation and arrangements for tourists.

Similarly, the district police met with bus owners and auto drivers in the reserve police conference room. Puri SP Vineet Agarwal has urged motorists and commuters to adhere to traffic rules and exercise caution while driving, following traffic guidelines. He also requested that people avoid overcrowding at no-parking zones.

To assist the police during peak hours, 100 volunteers have been engaged. They will help identify locals and outsiders during crowd management and decongestion efforts. Puri SP Vineet Agarwal will welcome guests visiting the shrine, acknowledging their appreciation for the arrangements made.
