Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police on Saturday night launched surprise raids at different bars and nightclubs in Bhubaneswar with a view to keeping a tab on anti-social activities ahead of Durga Puja.
A special team of the Commissionerate Police conducted raids at several bars, and nightclubs in Chandrasekharpur, Patia, Cuttack Road, Mancheswar, and Infocity. The raids revealed that several bars and nightclubs in the capital city were guilty of flouting rules and operating beyond the stipulated timings.
According to reports, several bars in Patia and Chandrasekharpur areas of Bhubaneswar were found operating till 2:30 a.m. contrary to ‘late closing permission’ up to 1:30 am.
The raids will be intensified in the coming days with a view to maintaining law and order in the city. According to police said that stern action will be taken against the owners of bars, and nightclubs for violating the norms.
