**Berhampur: ** The police on Tuesday raided the house of arrested BJP leader and former Mayor of Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BMC) Siba Sankar Das.
The raiding team was accompanied by Das, who will be produced in the court as his remand period will end tomorrow (Wednesday).
“It was a routine raid and investigation is still on,” said Santunu Das, SDPO, Berhampur.
“The police have searched my premises and have not found anything. I have not duped anyone’s property and I am not involved in any crime. It’s a conspiracy against me but I’m sure I’ll come out clean. Police has my full cooperation,” said Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BMC) Mayor Siba Sankar Das.
Sib Sankar Das alias Pintu was arrested on July 7 from Delhi on charges of several cases pending against him.
The first mayor of Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BMC), who was wanted in several criminal cases, was arrested by a special team of Berhampur police.
Das was inducted into the BJD in 2008 and had been elected as councillor of the then Berhampur municipality.
When Berhampur got the municipal corporation tag, Das had become its first ever mayor.
