Bolangir: Police on Sunday recovered bodies of a couple hanging from a tree under the Saintala police limits in Odisha’s Bolangir district.
The deceased have been identified as Akash Dharua (25) and his wife Mahima Dharua (22) – both from Keomal village under Jurabandh panchayat.
Local villagers spotted the body following which a team from Saintala police station arrived at the scene and recovered the bodies in the presence of a magistrate. Police have sent the bodies for autopsy and launched an investigation into the incident.
According to reports, Akash was in love with Mahima from Chudapali village in Patnagarh. They had been married for the past three months, but frequent domestic disputes led to differences between them.
The couple ended their lives by hanging themselves with a blanket and a scarf from a mango tree located 2 kilometres from their home. The circumstances that compelled Akash and Mahim to take such an extreme step is yet to be ascertained.
