Balasore: A one-year-old boy, who was abducted from the Soro Community Health Center (CHC) in Odisha’s Balasore district on Thursday, was rescued from Adivasi Bustee here on Friday.
According to reports, one Pratima Murmu of Dhirpasahi village in the Soro municipality area took her infant son and her sister along with a lawyer to the Soro CHC to get the death certificate of a relative.
However, when they arrived at the hospital, the lawyer asked Pratima to let a woman hold her infant son while they went to get the death certificate. Initially, Pratima did not agree to the lawyer’s proposal but agreed to give her child to the unknown woman after being persuaded.
She handed over her baby boy to the woman and went with the lawyer to the hospital’s upper floor to get the certificate. On their return, she found the woman and her son missing. When she could not trace either, she lodged a missing complaint at the Soro police station.
The police investigated the matter and rescued the child from Adivasi Bustee in Soro. However, the police are yet to trace the whereabouts of the lawyer and the woman.
