Cuttack: The high-decibel music system will not be allowed during Ganesh Puja and immersion festival in Cuttack this year.
After a meeting with various puja committees, Police Commissioner Sanjeev Panda said the idols will be immersed in three phases on September 15, 22, and 29 as per the direction of the High Court. Police will also keep a watch on the forceful collection of puja donations, he said.
“We are keeping a close watch on any kind of extortion in the name of Puja donation. If anyone is found indulging in such activities, they will be taken to task. No DJ sounds and high-decibel sound systems will be allowed. We have permitted the music system with a permissible limit of 65 decibels or below during the Puja festival. We will monitor the sound system with our measuring instruments”.
Cuttack Mayor Subhas Singh said “Our key focus is road communication, light, drainage, garbage management and make-shift ponds for immersion. We are looking into it. We will also make light arrangements at all temporary ponds.”
Ganesh Puja will be celebrated on September 7 this year
