Koraput: Padwa police in Odisha’s Koraput district arrested one person and seized 28 kg of ganja (cannabis) packed in polythene sheets and wrapped around his body with tapes at the Badadebata Chowk.
According to Nandapur SDPO Sanjaya Mohapatra, the accused has been identified as Dulhan Khan (24), a resident of Mondalpara under Katwa police limits in West Bengal’s Bardhaman district.
During interrogation, Dulhan confessed that he was waiting for a bus at the Chowk to travel to smuggle the contraband to the Araku area of Andhra Pradesh. He planned to smuggle the contraband to Bangladesh through the West Bengal border.
While he was carrying most of the seized contraband on his body, some ganga was also seized from his travel bag.
A case has been registered at the Padwa police station in this connection.
