Berhampur: Police on Friday intercepted a private car seized 88 kg silver bars and cash to the tune of Rs 5 lakh while the vehicle was on its from Berhampur to Kolkata. The incident occurred under Khallikote police limits in Odisha’s Ganjam district.
According to reports, a police patrol party intercepted a car near Gruapalli poll plaza during vehicle checking. On inspection of the car, police recovered several silver bars and cash and seized them. After valuation and measurement, it was found that 88 kg silver and cash worth Rs 5 lakh were seized from the car.
The police have seized the car and detained two persons for interrogation. During interrogation it was found that the silver bars were being taken to Kolkata without paying the GST.
