Bhadrak: Bhadrak police seized a massive haul of cash and brown sugar from a rented house at Elakha area under the Bhadrak Town police station during a surprise raid, on Monday.
During the raid, cash worth Rs 25 lakh and brown sugar weighing approximately 40 grams were seized from the possession of the woman who was only present at the house. Much to the surprise of everyone, police found the cash and brown sugar hidden in face wash covers and pillow covers. A machine was also used to count the cash, according to sources.
The raid was carried out in the presence of the Bhadrak Superintendent of Police (SP) and Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP). Bhadrak SP has confirmed the seizure of Rs 25 lakh in cash after counting was over.
Meanwhile, police have sealed the entire area and intensified the investigation to find the source of the brown sugar and the woman’s links to it.
