Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Thursday caught Nirmal Kumar Senapati, sub-inspector (SI) at Sukinda police station in Jajpur district red-handed while demanding and accepting Rs 10,000 bribe from a complainant seeking help in a case registered earlier at Sukinda police station.
The entire bribe money has been recovered from the possession of the accused Senapati and seized.
The Vigilance sleuths laid a trap to nab Senapati and have now launched simultaneous searches at two locations linked to the accused from a disproportionate asset (DA) angle.
A case has been registered in this connection at the Cuttack Vigilance police station under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.
Further investigation into the case is underway against the accused.
