**Bargarh: ** While political violence during the Bijepur by-poll had claimed the life of a BJD worker following a gunfire at Sohela allegedly committed by a mob of BJP workers for which senior BJP leader Jay Narayan Mishra had been arrested for his alleged involvement, yet again such a violence has critically injured one more BJD worker.
The injured, identified as Satya Narayan Das, has sustained two bullets shots in his belly and leg.
He was shot at by some miscreants here in the district on Tuesday afternoon hours and has been admitted to Burla-based Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Science and Research (VIMSAR) as his condition deteriorated.
The firing incident is claimed to be a fall out of past political rivalry between BJD and BJP.
Satya Narayan’s younger brother told media, “He had returned from Burla VIMSAR as his uncle-in-law was ill. When he was taking rest parking his motorbike, 2-3 persons all of a sudden swooped down and fired four rounds. Two bullets pierced into his body. While one into his belly, another into his leg.”
He further informed, “My brother is a BJD worker. The attackers are from BJP. Actually they had come to attack my brother’s friend Mano Bhai. As my brother was sitting in the front, the bullet shots hit my brother Satya Narayan Das. Four rounds were fired. Two bullets have pierced into his belly and leg.”
In this connection, Sohela police have rounded up a youth named Ashwini Suna and investigating into the matter.
Soon after the gunshot and injury, some local youths torched a shop in presence of police personnel deployed there.
Irate locals have blocked the Bargarh-Raipur stretch of national highway (NH) protesting the incident.
