Bhubaneswar: There will be no victory celebration after the declaration of election results in Puri Lok Sabha constituency.
A decision to this effect was taken by the district administration and police in the wake of Puri cracker explosion mishap which claimed 13 lives so far.
The administration has also banned victory procession after counting votes for the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections. Besides, the administration has made it clear that stringent action will be taken against those who will violate the rules.
Addressing a press conference, Puri Superintendent of Police Pinak Mishra said, “The district administration has banned victory procession after the vote counting. The administration has imposed restrictions on firecrackers. No fireworks of any form will be allowed after the counting of votes. That’s not all. DJ will not be played after counting of votes.”
As per the norms, political parties should get permission from the district administration 48 hours before holding the victory procession. As of now, no political outfits have sought permission to hold victory procession following the declaration of the result.
It is pertinent to mention that the Puri fire tragedy has left 13 dead. Currently, 14 persons are undergoing treatment in different hospitals.
