Dhenkanal: A man, contesting for the post of Sarpanch was brutally attacked by miscreants here on Saturday night. The victim identified as Nrusingha Barik is contesting for the post of Sarpanch of Badalu gram panchayat under Zone 1 of Odapada Block.
According to the victim’s wife, Priyadarshini Barik, masked men belonging to an opposition group attacked Barik with batons and sharp weapons near Ghodadian village. He sustained serious injuries and is admitted to the district headquarters hospital.
The woman has lodged a complaint in this connection with the local police following which an investigation has been initiated.
