Polling For Patkura Assembly Seat To Be Held On May 19

Bhubaneswar: Polling for the Patkura assembly seat, which had been adjourned after death of one contesting candidate, is to be held on May 2019, as notified by the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Wednesday.

After death of BJD candidate for 96-Patkura Assembly Constituency, Bed Prakash Agarwalla, Returning Officer for the said constituency had adjourned the poll in accordance with the provisions of sub-section (2) of Section 52 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951.

The ECI in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (2) of Section 30 and 56 of the said Act has declared May 1 as the last date for filing nominations to the said assembly seat, May 2 as the date of scrutiny of nominations and May 4 as the last date for withdrawal of candidature.

The ECI has mentioned May 19 as the date on which poll shall, if necessary, be taken and May 27 as the date before which the election shall be completed. The poll hours for the specified election have been set from 7 AM to 6 PM, if necessary.
