Polling Parties Set Up Booths In Patkura, District Administration Ensures Smooth Electoral Process

Kendrapara: As people of Patkura Assembly constituency are set to elect their representative on Saturday (July 20), polling parties reached their respective booths today and set up the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). 

Dr Himanshu Bhusan Parida, Presiding Officer of Booth No-28 in Subhadarapur Primary School said, "We reached the polling station on time. District administration has put all arrangements in place for us. We were provided car and security personnel from the collection centres. Today, we set up the machines, ballot units and paper units. Tomorrow we will start mock polling exactly at 6 am."

Collector Samarth Verma said, "The polling parties have been stationed in their booths. Sector Officers are visiting the booths and addressing the shortfalls. We have multiplied forces like paramilitary personnel, micro observers in all sensitive booths." 

Patkura Assembly constituency is set to vote on July 20 with 309 polling stations in place and 1700 personnel to man them. 138 critical polling stations have been identified too where CAPF, mobile patrol team and EVM guards will be deployed.

Total number of electors are 2,44,747 and among them 1,17,306 are women. 632 service electors and 2852 PwD voters will also be casting their franchise. Counting of votes will take place on July 24.

While a tough fight is expected between BJD candidate Sabitri Agarwalla, wife of Late Bed Prakash Agarwalla and BJP heavyweight Bijoy Mohapatra, Congress’ Jayanta Mohanty is also hopeful of securing the seat.
