Bhubaneswar: In a move to facilitate free darshan of Lord Jagannath for poor devotees from far-off places, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi announced the ‘Shree Jagannath Darshan Yojana’ with a budgetary allocation of Rs 30 crore.
Majhi stated that the scheme aims to fulfill the wishes of underprivileged devotees who desire to visit Puri and have darshan of Lord Jagannath along with Mahaprasad.
“Every Odia desires to have a glimpse of Lord Jagannath in his lifetime. In order to fulfil the wishes of very poor devotees, our Government will launch a new scheme Shree Jagannath Darshan Yojana whereby they will travel to Puri, have Darshan of Shree Jagannath and Mahaprasad free of cost. For this purpose, I allocate Rs.30 crore in the Budget Estimate,” Majhi announced.
Additionally, the CM announced funds for the development of Maa Tarini temple in Keonjhar, Mahima Gadee in Joranda, and Sakhi Gopinath Temple at Sakhigopal.
“We have approved the project “Integrated Development of Maa Tarini Temple Complex at Ghatagaon, Keonjhar” with an estimate of about Rs 225 crore. Our Government is committed to the development of the Mahima Gadi at Joranda and the construction of a Bhabya Sunya Mandap there. Apart from this, concerted efforts will be made for the overall development of Joranda,” he added.
