Bhubaneswar: Although the last phase of twin elections in Odisha was completed peacefully in 6 Lok Sabha and forty-two Assembly segments with a significant voter turnout of 70.67%, post-poll violence has erupted in several places of the state.
On June 1 (Friday), two political groups got engaged in a violent post-polling altercation at Kheranga panchayat coming under Chandabali tehsil of Bhadrak district.
In the fierce clash between two groups, one Tikam Majhi was critically injured and admitted to Tihidi Hospital for first-hand treatment. Later, Majhi was referred to SCB Hospital, Cuttack due to deteriorating health conditions.
On Sunday, Kalandi Majhi, the elder brother of Majhi, lodged a written complaint at Chandabali police station against 21 people involved in the incident.
The supporters of Tikram have warned to go on a protest if the accused are not arrested within the next 24 hours.
