Post-Poll Violence: Panchayat Samiti Member’s Husband Shot Dead In Balangir

Balangir: In post-poll violence, unidentified miscreants allegedly shot dead the husband of a Panchayat Samiti Member at Bagdor village in Balangir district today evening.

The deceased has been identified as Lokanath Biswal.

According to reports, two youths visited the house of Banita Biswal, the newly elected Panchayat Samiti Member of Bagdor panchayat under Belapada block to congratulate Lokanath on his wife Banita’s victory.

The assailants hugged Lokanath and allegedly fired at him killing him instantaneously. The miscreants fled the spot after the incident.

Deceased Lokanath was the block president of the farmer’s wing of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD).

Unconfirmed reports said police have detained two persons in this connection. However, the detention has not been confirmed by the police.
