Jharsuguda: Police on Tuesday late night arrested four accused in connection with the murder of a poultry owner in Jharsuguda. The police also seized a country-made revolver, 15 live cartridges, one can, and one scooter form the possession of the accused.

The arrested accused includes Wasim Akram, Shahbaz Khan, Imran and Ijaz Khan.

According to Jharsuguda SP Parmar Smit Parshottamdas, Imran and the deceased Shahjahan were cousins and engaged in poultry business in Marsalbazar. The two had some business rivalry which led to the murder of Shahjahan.

On Monday, the three accused went to Shahjehan’s poultry farm in Behrapat. The discussions between Imran and Shahjahan turned violent when Imran fired two rounds at Shahjahan killing him on the spot. Subsequently, Imran and Ijaz carried Shahjahan’s body in a car and threw it from the Rampela bridge near Jharsuguda-Sambalpur district border in Rengali block into a river.

As Shahjahan did not return home at night, his family members lodged a complaint at the local police station. Meanwhile, the accused Imran and Ijaz surrendered before the police and based on Ijaz’s information, Shahjahan’s body was recovered from the Rampela bridge area on Tuesday at around 12:00 midnight.
