**Paralakhemundi:** The power restoration work in Gajapati district, which had experienced a total blackout after disruption of electricity distribution system by severe cyclonic storm ‘Titli’, will be complete by October 20, informed Energy Minister Sushant Singh today.
Singh said that the power outage has left around 1,13,000 customers of Gajapati in dark for the past few days. While 60,000 connections will be restored by today evening, around 10,000 out of the rest connections will be charged daily to complete the restoration work by October 20.
In total fourteen 33/11 KV grid sub-stations have been affected by the cyclone. Around 5,000 electrical poles and few transformers have been damaged. New equipments have arrived and work will be complete by the above mentioned date, he added.
The minister further informed that around 200 local employees of the energy department are working on the restoration work while 150 employees have been outsourced. Tomorrow 300 more will be outsourced to expedite the process.
Singh is part of the three-member ministerial committee formed by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to monitor relief, rescue and restoration activities in Ganjam, Gajapati and Rayagada districts which are worst affected by the cyclone ‘Titli’.
Other members of the committee are State Urban Development Minister Niranjan Pujari and Revenue Minister Maheswar Mohanty.
