**Bhubaneswar:** Starting from creating awareness prior to landfall of cyclonic storm ‘Titli’ to distributing relief and helping in restoration works after the natural calamity wreaked havoc in Odisha, the Biju Yuva Vahini (BYV) was always there to serve the people.
Before the landfall of ‘Titli’, BYV Volunteers along with local administrative officials visited each and every house in the vulnerable districts to bring them to the multipurpose shelters.
The volunteers also helped in distributing dry food items to the evacuated persons at the shelters. Without caring for their life, the BYV Volunteers were alert day and night to rescue the cyclone affected people and provide them with cooked food.
The volunteers also extended their helping hand to ODRAF team to clear the roads in the aftermath of the cyclone. Besides, they provided critical support to helicopters deployed into the relief and rescue operations to ensure effective reach and timely support.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik praised the efforts of BYV Volunteers and said that their yeoman service at the time of natural disaster will inspire other youths.
