Jagatsinghpur: The ASJ Women’s Court in Jagatsinghpur on Monday awarded a 14-year jail term to Santosh Bedanta and Biswajit Dalsinghray, the two accused in the much talked about Pramodini acid attack case.
They had allegedly executed an acid attack on Pramodini Raul at Tirtol over a suspected one-sided love affair on April 18, 2009. Pramodini, who was 16-year old then, lost her eyesight in the attack even after a long treatment at the SCB Hospital at Cuttack.
A special team of Jagatsinghpur police had nabbed Santosh, an Indian Army Jawan posted at Kupwara in Jammu and Kashmir, from Kolkata in November 2017. His aide Biswajit had also been arrested from Nayagarh.
