Bhubaneswar: Pranab Prakash Das, Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader and former MLA from Jajpur, on Sunday resigned from the post of Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) president.
According to OCA secretary Sanjay Behera, Das was elected as OCA president unopposed on October 28, 2022, and he quit the position today.
“Pranab Prakash Das has resigned as the president of OCA. He has quit the post citing some personal reasons. A new president will be elected within 45 days,” the OCA secretary said.
Das’ resignation was accepted by the OCA committee held at the OCA Hall at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack today.
Vice President Pankaj Lochan Mohanty has been appointed Acting President of OCA. The general body meeting of the association will be held next month after the ODI match at Barbati Stadium.
It is worth mentioning here that the BJD lost power in Odisha in 2024 Assembly polls in the state. Das too faced defeat from Sambalpur Lok Sabha seat in this year’s Lok Sabha polls.
