Bhubaneswar: BJD President and Leader of Opposition in Odisha Assembly, Naveen Patnaik, will undergo treatment for cervical arthritis at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai on June 22. Patnaik disclosed this information on social media, seeking blessings from Lord Jagannath and good wishes from the people of Odisha.
Taking to his X handle, Patnaik wrote: “As advised by medical experts, I would be undergoing a procedure for cervical arthritis on 22nd of this month at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai. My personal doctor Dr Ramakant Panda is coordinating this in Mumbai. With blessings of Lord Jagannath and good wishes of my brothers and sisters of Odisha, looking forward to returning soon to continue to serve all of you.”
According to the report, the day-to-day affairs of Biju Janata Dal will be handled by the Political Affairs Committee in his absence. Senior Vice President Debi Prasad Mishra will coordinate activities and programmes between different wings of the party.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed concern over Patnaik’s health condition, praying for his speedy recovery and good health. Supporters and well-wishers have also been pouring in messages of goodwill and wishing him a quick recovery.
Meanwhile, BJD workers and supporters have held prayers and puja ceremonies at Naveen Patnaik’s residence, seeking his speedy recovery from cervical arthritis just before he left for Bhubaneswar airport. The party workers and supporters have also gathered at the Bhubaneswar airport before his departure to Mumbai.
