Bhubaneswar: Prem Chandra Chaudhary joined as the Director of Agriculture and Food Production on Monday. Chaudhary, a 2010-batch Odisha-cadre IAS officer was serving as the State Project Director, Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya Sangathan.
Chaudhary has also worked as the CEO of the Western Odisha Development Council.
In a reshuffle effected by the State Government on June 16, Chaudhary was transferred and posted as Director, Agriculture and Food Production. He has had a successful stint as the CEO of WODC, a post in which he was appointed in June 2021.
However, Chaudhary’s work as the Municipal Commissioner of Bhubaneswar garnered praise during the first wave of COVID when he played a key role in facilitating COVID hospitals and COVID care centres in and around Bhubaneswar.
Chaudhury took over as Director of Agriculture and Food Production from Dr M Muthukumar. During his stint as the civic body’s chief, Chaudhary’s efforts toward community engagement and awareness were appreciated by citizens. He also had a successful stint as Collector of Ganjam.
