Puri: Preparation for silver cladding of the Singha Dwara (Lion’s Gate) of the Shree Jagannath Temple has started.
Keeping with the earlier decision to undertake silver cladding of the Singha Dwara during the nine-day sojourn of Lord Jagannath and His siblings to Shree Gundicha Temple, work on the project has commenced with the fixing of iron frames for the temporary doors.
Subsequently, the brass-clad doors of the Singha Dwara will be removed and replaced with new doors made of Burma teak which will be clad with silver.
The silver required for the cladding of the doors has been provided by a donor from Mumbai.
The doors will have designs in conformity with the art tradition of Utkala.
Earlier, the silver cladding of the doors of Sata Pahancha Dwara, Jay Bijay Dwara, Kalahata Dwara, Beherana Dwara, Bhoga Mandap Dwara, etc have been completed.
