Bhubaneswar: Preparation for the next year’s Ratha Yatra of the sibling deities Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Goddess Subhadra began today as a three-member team reached Nayagarh with the sacred orders (Agyan Mala) and offerings before felling wood logs for chariot making.
As per reports, a team of three representatives from the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration, led by Sudarshan Mekap, Lakshman Mahapatra, and Rabi Behera, arrived at Badaraula temple in Badamula under the Nayagarh forest division.
As per tradition, two trucks of logs are sent to the 12th-century shrine from Nayagarh every year after a puja. Today, the team worshipped the presiding deity of Badaraula temple at the Badamula village after reaching there. The ceremony, which included recitation of hymns and the offering, began at 8 am and continued till 2 pm.
It is learnt that the temple administration had instructed the forest officials to cut 865 logs of wood last year for chariot making. However, 51 logs were left unused last year for which the administration has instructed to cut 814 trees to meet the requirements this year.
