Bhubaneswar: President Ram Nath Kovind arrived in Bhubaneswar on Saturday on a two-day visit to Odisha. He arrived with his wife Savita Kovind in a special flight of the Indian Air Force (IAF) that landed at the Biju Patnaik International Airport at around 7.30 PM.
Kovind was given a warm welcome by Odisha Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, MP Aparajita Sarangi, Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy, interim DGP Satyajit Mohanty and other dignitaries.
During his visit, the President will lay the foundation stone for the Paika Rebellion Memorial at Barunei Hill in Khordha on Sunday. He will also address the closing ceremony of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of the Utkal University in Bhubaneswar on the same day.
On Sunday morning, he would proceed towards Barunei hill to lay the foundation stone for the Paika Rebellion Memorial. Elaborate security arrangements as per the ‘Blue Book’ has been set up in the district.
IG (Central Range) Soumendra Priyadarshi is monitoring the security arrangements while Khordha SP Amulya Kumar Das is in-charge of the arrangements. Das is being assisted by four SP or Commandant rank officers, nine Additional SP or Deputy Commandant rank officers, 15 DSPs, 26 Inspectors, around 125 officers and 38 platoon police force.
Later, the President will proceed towards Utkal University to grace the closing ceremony of the university’s Platinum Jubilee celebration at around 12.40 PM. He will leave for Delhi on the same day.
