Bhubaneswar: In a landmark moment for Odisha’s democratic history, President Droupadi Murmu addressed the Odisha Legislative Assembly, becoming the first President of India to do so. Her speech focused on the importance of effective representation of people’s problems in the Assembly, sharing her insights and expertise with legislators.
Murmu, a former Rairangpur MLA, was welcomed by Governor Haribabu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Speaker Surama Padhy, and Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik. A photo session with MLAs preceded her address, which was attended by dignitaries, including MPs and senior officials.
The President’s visit marks a significant milestone, highlighting her roots in Odisha, where she served as an MLA and minister. She inaugurated the Kalinga Atithi Nivas at Raj Bhavan and will attend a dinner hosted by the Governor.
