Bhubaneswar: President Droupadi Murmu, on the second day of her visit to Odisha, will be visiting the Lingaraj temple here on Saturday.
This will be Murmu’s first visit to the 11th Century shrine after assuming the highest Constitutional post in the country.
Special arrangements have been made at the Lingaraj temple by servitors and the temple administration to welcome the President to the shrine today morning.
Later in the day, the President will inaugurate the 2nd Indian Rice Congress at ICAR-National Rice Research Institute in Bidyadharpur in Cuttack.
She is expected to reach the venue at 11 am and by 1 pm, she will fly back to New Delhi, official sources said.
This is Murmu’s second trip to her home state she was elected to the highest office in July 2022.
After her arrival in Bhubaneswar on Friday, President Murmu attended the foundation day programme of Jnanaprabha Mission, a charitable organisation.
In the evening, she attended the second convocation of her alma mater – Rama Devi Women’s University in the city. The President completed her BA from the then- Rama Devi Women’s College in 1979.
On Friday evening, the President inaugurated the banquet hall at the Raj Bhavan, ‘Abhisek Hall’, which has a seating capacity of 900 people and it will be used for large meetings and swearing-in-ceremonies.
