Bhubaneswar: President Draupadi Murmu is scheduled to be on a three-day visit to Odisha and will be visiting her birthplace for the first time after assuming the country’s top office. During her visit to the state, the President is scheduled to visit Rairangpur, Pahadpur, and Baripada of Mayurbhanj district.
She is scheduled to arrive on May 4 and return to Delhi on May 6.
Various programmes are lined up during the President’s visit to Odisha. She will visit her late husband Shamcharan Murmu’s village in Pahadpur and attend a programme there in his honour, visit Gosani, and lay the foundation stone of a community center to be built by NABARD for SLS Trust School.
On Friday, May 5, after garlanding the statue of Pandit Raghunath Murmu at his birthplace Dandbosha, the President will visit the Similipal sanctuary at 12:00 noon. Therefore, the sanctuary will be closed for two days (April 4 and 5) for tourists and common people.
Similipal Tiger Project director Prakash Chand Gugnani informed a notification has been published by the Tiger Project Authority. As the President is coming to Similipal for the first time, the authorities have made high security, top hospitality, and other arrangements as per protocol.
After Shimilipal her tour, the President will spend the night at the Baripada guest house. On the next day (April 6), she will visit the Maharaja Shriramchandra Bhanjdeo University, pay homage to his statue, and be the chief guest at the 12th convocation of the university from 11.15 am to 12.15 pm.
After the programme, President Murmu is scheduled to reach Kalaikunda Air Force Base at Kharagpur in West Bengal by helicopter and return to Delhi from there.
