Bhubaneswar: The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, arrived in Bhubaneswar this afternoon from Raipur, Chhattisgarh.
Following her arrival, the President traveled to Nayagarh, where she had darshan and offered prayers at the Lord Nilamadhab Temple. Later, she attended the foundation day ceremony of the Bharatiya Biswabasu Shabar Samaj at Kaliapalli.
Addressing the gathering at Kaliapalli, the President remarked on the region’s breathtaking natural beauty, stating that it has the potential to become a popular tourist destination. She expressed confidence that the development of infrastructure in the area would attract more tourists and pilgrims, thereby boosting the local economy. She urged everyone to contribute to the growth of Nayagarh in various sectors, including agriculture, handicrafts, and tourism.
The President emphasized that a nature-friendly lifestyle is a hallmark of Indian culture and an integral part of tribal life. She highlighted the deep connection tribal communities have with nature, noting that they revere forests and trees as deities. According to tribal beliefs, the souls of their ancestors reside in the forest, a philosophy that serves as a powerful mantra for forest conservation.
She further stated that the government is implementing various schemes aimed at empowering tribal communities while preserving and promoting their rich art and culture. She urged tribal citizens to stay informed about these welfare initiatives and take full advantage of them. Stressing the importance of public participation, she noted that government schemes can only be successful with the active cooperation and engagement of the people.
