Puri: General darshan at the Jagannath Temple is suspended till 10 am today due to President Droupadi Murmu’s visit.
According to reports, President Droupadi Murmu arrived at the Jagannath Temple in Puri at 7:40 am today and is currently offering prayers to sibling deities Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra. She spent time in the temple from 7:45 am to 8:10 am. General darshan at the temple will remain suspended till 10 am, until the Gopal Ballav Bhog ceremony is completed.
Gajapati Maharaja welcomed President Droupadi Murmu at the Lion’s Gate as she entered the Jagannath Temple. The President then proceeded to the Garbhagriha (sanctum sanctorum) to offer prayers to Lord Jagannath. She later performed pinda daan ritual at Swetaganga.
She was accompanied by Governor Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. The temple administration presented her with a khandua and a pattachitra as tokens of honour.
President will leave Lok Bhawan at 9:15 am and head to the Talabania Helipad, from where she will take a helicopter to Rairangpur in Mayurbhanj district. Tight security arrangements have been made in Puri for the President’s visit, following the Blue-Book security protocol.
